Accessory Number Plates
Bike-carrying racks which attach to your vehicle's towbar are a popular way of transporting a bike to the start of a ride. However, it is illegal to drive a vehicle with the rear number plate obscured. Most racks have a place to attach a smaller "accessory plate".
To have an accessory plate issued, it is necessary for customers to attend a QT Customer Service Centre and complete the necessary paperwork to customise their current registration plates and request an accessory plate be produced. The cost depends on the type of plate the customer has currently on their vehicle and whether they elect to have replacement number plates issued at the same time, due to damage etc to their existing plates, as well as the accessory plate being produced.
