Review of Rules of Association

UPDATE: Please find in the documents below the most recent version of BQ's proposed new Rules of Association. The changes are the results of two years of extensive membership consultation, and seek to rationalise and update the Rules. Significantly, the proposed Rules seek to expand the membership of the Management Committee from four to eight members.

It is proposed by the management committee that the new Rules of association will be put to the vote of the membership at a date after the AGM, and this will be announced in due course and communicated to the membership.

Further updates will be advised on this webpage and to the full membership via the Queensland Cyclist newsletter.

BQ's Rules Sub-Committee was convened in February 2007 to further consider BQ's proposed new constitution in light of our current rules and suggestions by members.

Following a series of formal and informal meetings, the Rules Sub-committee has made recommendations on: Privacy of membership records, staggered terms of office, number of members needed to call a special general meeting, time within which such a meeting can be called, notice requirement for a general meeting, circulation of candidates names and statements, postal ballots, use of technology, sub-branches and BUGs, methods of voting at elections, size and composition of the Management Committee, transitional arrangements and rights of staff.

Here's a link to the report.

The new sub-committee presently includes Michael Hogan, Paul Murdoch, Jana Novak, John Curr and Chris Carrigan.
