Want to lend a helping hand?

We'd love to hear from you. To enquire about current volunteering opportunities please contact our Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteering on Bicycle Queensland events is about camaraderie, teamwork, friendship and fun. Join a crew and take delight in making these wonderful cycling events happen!

Volunteering can be even more fun when you bring friends or family. It's a great way to bond away from the everyday.

The feedback we get from volunteers is fantastic. For instance, on our 2010 Cycle Queensland ride a whopping 97% of volunteers said they were very satisfied or satisfied with their experience.

Why volunteer?

Bicycle Queensland is a not-for-profit, self-funded organisation whose aim is to increase cycling participation and achieve better conditions for cyclists. Bicycle Queensland organises three main events during the year; Bike Week (including the BDO Brisbane Coot-tha Challenge and Great Brisbane Bike Ride), Cycle Queensland and the Brisbane to the Gold Coast Cycle Challenge. It takes an enormous effort to organise and successfully run these events, and they simply cannot be held without the help of a large team of volunteers.

Becoming a volunteer can be a very rewarding and satisfying experience for people of all ages and walks of life. For our major events, we have approximately 250 volunteers who assist with registrations & general administrative duties, food distribution at Rest Stops, road marshalling, pedestrian and directional marshalling, and more.

Whether you are a student interested in gaining work experience in the events industry or a retired professional looking for ways to contribute to the community, we can find a role to suit you.

8-16 September 2012 - Online volunteer registrations open April 2012.

Volunteering on Cycle Queensland is about comraderie, teamwork, friendship and fun. Join our crew and take delight in making the state’s largest recreational cycling tour happen. On Cycle Queensland we need approximately 130 volunteers.  Volunteers are the people that keep the wheels of Cycle Queensland turning. There’s a role to suit just about everyone and it’s a great way to learn new skills, meet new people and have fun.  Most volunteers are full-time but part-time positions are available for those who also want to ride.

There is a wide range of roles for you to choose from and, for most, you don’t need to have had any specialised training. You could be screening movies, serving food, putting up marquees or keeping the cyclists heading in the right direction. All teams have a Team Leader to support them and plan the roster.

More information, including detailed role descriptions, will be available by April 2012.
